I headed into JCrew today to check out some stuff from their new rollout. I ended up in the dressing room trying on what I always seem to try on: basic cashmere sweaters, khaki capris, etc. (By the way - the new rollout wasn't anything special - so far JCrews spring collection hasn't wowed me like the winter collections always do) Instead of buying more of the same, I realized I should go home, dig out all my spring clothes (both old AND new) and go to town making new outfits out of them. (Look people, I had a free Saturday...nothing to do, you know?) Since I am the kind of person who has new stuff sitting in their closet with the tags on because I simply can't make inventive outfits up in the morning, this was a really helpful excersize. Below are some pictures of some of my favorite easy, casual looks that allow me to re-purpose the same items. Click for larger images.

The Brightly Colored Spring Pant: JCrewI was kind of worried about this piece - not sure what I would be able to wear it with without looking like an easter egg or a scrub nurse. I think the best way to tone it down is to wear it with neutrals.
