MY NEW BLOG!

Hey everyone!
So as some of you may know, I decided to go private a few weeks ago. I want privacy, but I also don't want to discourage new readers from following me...and when you go to my blog and see a big ol' PRIVATE message, it is kind of a downer.

So I decided to leave this blog, NYCynicist, as public, and leave up all my old posts. However, I have a new blog, called City Streets and Suburban Sidewalks that will now be private. So, if you were a fan of my old blog, or if you are a new reader who likes my old posts and wants to follow my new ones, please head over to http://citystreetssuburbansidewalks.blogspot.com to check out my new blog. Just e-mail me at nycycnicist@gmail.com, or leave a comment with your e-mail for permission to enter the new blog.
By the way - I allready invited everbody who currently had permission for NYCYNICIST.

The goal of the new blog, since it is private, is that I will be able to post more personal things without feeling like people I know are reading. Additionally, I wanted to embrace my CT roots...I still go home to CT quite often, and my wardrobe and style choices are highly influenced by that. So, this new blog is about both my urban and suburban lifestyles.

I hope you all enjoy the new blog!

So due to the fact that I am too busy to go through all my emails and add people who requested, I am not going private yet : )
But continue to let me know if you would like to be included to the list....I will get around to it someday lol

In the meantime...I leave you with Carrie Bradshaw's gorgeous Oscar de La Renta dress..
I have been watching this show again lately (it is always fun catching up on it after you haven't seen it in months), and of course, I fell back in love with it, all over again.
Oh how I wish I could run around Manhattan in heels but, my feet just weren't made that way : )

Glamour Magazine's "One Shirt, 900 Ways" has got nothing on me!

I headed into JCrew today to check out some stuff from their new rollout. I ended up in the dressing room trying on what I always seem to try on: basic cashmere sweaters, khaki capris, etc. (By the way - the new rollout wasn't anything special - so far JCrews spring collection hasn't wowed me like the winter collections always do) Instead of buying more of the same, I realized I should go home, dig out all my spring clothes (both old AND new) and go to town making new outfits out of them. (Look people, I had a free Saturday...nothing to do, you know?) Since I am the kind of person who has new stuff sitting in their closet with the tags on because I simply can't make inventive outfits up in the morning, this was a really helpful excersize. Below are some pictures of some of my favorite easy, casual looks that allow me to re-purpose the same items. Click for larger images.

The Boyfriend Jean (From the Gap)
Left: Shoes, Jcrew; Trench, Soia & Kyo; Bag, LL Bean
Right: Shoes, JCrew; Sweater, JCrew
The Brightly Colored Spring Pant: JCrew
I was kind of worried about this piece - not sure what I would be able to wear it with without looking like an easter egg or a scrub nurse. I think the best way to tone it down is to wear it with neutrals.
Top Left: Shoes, JCrew; Sweater, JCrew; Necklace, JCrew; Bag, Rafe
Top Right: Shoes, JCrew; Sweater, TJ Maxx (some inexpensive brand of basic cotton cable knits)
Bottom: Shoes, JCrew; Trench, Soia & Kyo

The Khakis (Rolled, of course ; ) : JCrew
Top Left: Shoes, JCrew; T-Shirt, JCrew; Necklace, JCrew
Top Right: Shoes, JCrew; Sweater, JCrew (the Tartine)
Bottom Left: Shoes, JCrew; Top, Banana Republic
Bottom Right: Shoes, Vince Camuto; Top, Banana Republic

This is a really great excercise if you are looking to really stretch your wardrobe for the spring season : )
Which looks are your favorite?
